WORCESTER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's ice hockey team put up three healthy goals in the first period and scored five total inside the Hart Center Saturday night, upending Holy Cross 5-0.
Five different goal-scorers registered in the box score Saturday, with a season-high two power play goals scored; one at the end of the first, and another midway through the second.
Starting in every game this season, senior
Samantha Ridgewell posted her second shutout of the season, making 21 saves in the road victory.

- Goal #1 (1-0 MC) – Senior Jesica Bonfe needed just 47 seconds before putting the opening goal in the back of the net, on a feed from Megan Fergusson; her fourth of the season.
- Goal #2 (2-0 MC) – With 43 seconds left in the first period, freshman Gabby Jones tallied her fourth assist of the season when she hit sophomore Kate Bukolska; her first of the season.
- Goal #3 (3-0 MC) – Less than 30 seconds left and still in the final minute of the first period, the next goal finished the scoring for the first period, giving the Warriors a huge lead; senior Paige Voight finished a power play goal (her third of the season) on an assist from Fergusson and freshman Julia Maclean.
- Goal #4 (4-0 MC) – It wouldn't seem like the 2018 season if senior Katelyn Rae didn't have a goal or an assist, and she did so in the second period. A power play goal was credited to her, with assists from Jones and senior Paige Sorensen.
- Goal #5 (5-0 MC) – Senior Felila Manu capped off the scoring for the night, netting her first of the season on an assist from Katelyn Rae.
Notes and Numbers
- Not only is Merrimack's 6-1-2 overall record its best start in program history; the same could be said of its 3-1-1 record in Hockey East play, with the lone loss to #6 Boston College.
- Ridgewell finished with 21 saves, with 13 coming in the third period.
- Nine different Warriors recorded a point in Saturday's victory.
