Women’s Soccer Travels to Stonehill Wednesday

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Coming off a monster win against Concordia Monday afternoon, the Merrimack College women's soccer team looks to get back in the Northeast 10 Conference win column Wednesday afternoon, taking on Stonehill at 3 p.m.

Last Time Out:

• It took just four minutes before the Warriors got on the board. After taking two shots in the first two minutes, Merrimack forced a corner. The cross in from senior Amber Gustafson went to the edge of the six-yard box, and an unmarked Nicole Langlois finished with a high shot to make it 1-0.
• Merrimack nearly doubled its lead in the 15^th minute, when a shot from senior Gigi Guenther was saved in spectacular fashion. Guenther was alone, and fired a shot to her left, but the outstretched hands of Jocelyn Hellier kept the game a 1-1.
• Guenther did eventually find the back of the net just 10 minutes later. In the 25^th minute, her shot from 30 yards out hit the crossbar and came back into play. Senior Taylor Cogliano fed sophomore Izzy McDonnell, whose back pass was one-timed at the top of the box into the back left corner.
• Merrimack increased their lead once again in the 30^th minute. A beautiful move on the right side of the field by freshman Maggie Barden allowed for an easy feed into the box; from there, freshman Erin Tyldesley knocked it home.
• The fourth goal of the first half came with three minutes left; a ball fed in from Tyldesley led to the foot of sophomore Taylor Robertson, who beat the last defender and tucked the shot into the side netting.
• Senior Taylor Cogliano finished a ball inside the 18 to start the second half. After a shot was deflected, freshman Meghan Blanchette fed the senior for an easy finish to make it 5-0.
• In the 53^rd minute, the Warriors tacked on another one. Guenther one-timed a pass in from Nicole Langlois to make it 6-0.
• In the 70^th minute, senior Tori Daigle got on the scoreboard; after a save from a shot inside the 18, Daigle positioned herself well and one-timed the shot to make it 7-0.
• Tyldesley scored her second of the game on a feed in from Robertson inside the box; a low cross was timed perfectly by the freshman forward.
• The ninth goal of the game was finished off on a Robertson header, where a cross from freshman Sara MacFarland was headed into the back of the net

• Seventeen different players have tallied a point for the Warriors this season; eleven players did so in Monday's win over Concordia.
• Merrimack's 29 goals nearly doubles what they've given up this year, with just 15 goals through 11 games.

• Merrimack is 28-8-3 all-time against Stonehill, but they haven't beaten the Skyhawks on the road since 2010.
• Last season, Guenther's two goals helped propel the Warriors over Stonehill in a 3-2 victory.
