NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's basketball team will play its third game in a row at Hammel Court to start the season when the Warriors host Assumption College in their first Northeast Division tilt of the season. The squad will be coming into play with a .500 record after splitting its first two games of the season in the East Region Conference Challenge.
Five Things to Know:
- Senior forward Ryan Boulter surpassed 1,000 career points on Saturday afternoon; he netted 30 total points on the weekend with 19 against Holy Family on Saturday and 11 against Jefferson on Sunday. Boulter is the 45th player in school history to score 1,000 career points.
- Junior guard Juvaris Hayes leads the Warriors in both points per game (20.5) and assists per game (7); with those numbers in tow, the Paterson, N.J. native was named NE10 Player of the Week for his efforts. Hayes holds the school record for most assists in a single season (287) set in 2016-17 and has 547 career assists.
- Junior Jaleel Lord finished the weekend averaging a double-double (10.0 ppg, 10.0 rpg); Lord recorded a career-high 15 rebounds on Sunday, marking the most rebounds for any player since 2015-16. In Saturday's win over Holy Family, Merrimack corralled 48 total rebounds, which marked the most in a game during Head Coach Joe Gallo's tenure.
- Hayes broke into the 1,000-point club last season in just his second collegiate season, and he is on pace to become just the 7th player in program history to score 2,000 career points; Boulter is on pace for just over 1,500 career points, which would rank in the top-15 in school history
- The Warriors outscored their opponents 137-122 over the weekend, averaging 68.5 points per game with a scoring margin of 7.5 points
Series History:
- Assumption enters Wednesday's contest with a 2-0 record after winning both of its games in the Assumption Tip-Off Classic this past weekend by a combined 32 points.
- Merrimack has not lost to Assumption since December of 2014. Last season they defeated the Greyhounds in both matchups during the regular season.
