NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team saw freshman Chase Gresock and junior Tyler Drevitch record a goal each, but the team was held to only 11 shots on goal for the entire game, as the Warriors fell to ninth-ranked Providence College on Friday at Lawler Rink.

The Basics
Score: Providence 7, Merrimack 2
Records: Merrimack (4-8-0, 2-4-0 HEA) | #9 Providence (6-3-1, 3-2-0 HEA)
Location: Lawler Rink | North Andover, Mass.

How It Happened
  • Providence pulled out to a 3-0 lead in the first, scoring just 13 seconds in before adding even-strength strikes at 10:24 and 17:20.
  • The only goal in the second period came just ahead of the eighth minute, as the Friars scored again to build a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.
  • The visitors' lead reached as high as six goals after a 5-on-3 strike just 1:09 into the third and then another goal off a turnover two minutes later. Merrimack got its legs back with two quick tallies in succession three minutes later. First it was Gresock lighting the lamp for the second time in three games at the 6:22 mark, and then less than 20 seconds later Drevitch buried his own rebound for his second of the year to get the Warriors within four. But the Friars were the last team to light the lamp on the night and held on from there to take the five-goal decision.
