Mayson Kimball as the Merrimack College women's basketball program rebounded with a 74-53 win on Friday night over Dominican College in its first game of the Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament in Orangeburg, N.Y.

Marquee Moments
- The Warriors and Chargers sat tied at 18 after the first quarter and held an eight-point halftime lead (42-34), but the third quarter was where the Warriors really blew the game open. Merrimack only allowed three points in the frame, and did not allowed the Chargers to score over the final 5:34 of the frame. The Warriors ended the quarter on a 13-0 run to bring a 24-point advantage into the final quarter, with four different players scoring during the burst

- The Chargers began the game with six unanswered points, and held a 10-4 lead through 2:20 of action. Merrimack took its first lead, 11-10, following a 3-pointer by senior Lindsay Werner. The Chargers took a late 18-16 advantage following a triple, but Werner sunk a bucket with five seconds left to tie the contest
- The team's traded points over the first five minutes of the second, with Merrimack owning a 30-26 lead following a layup by sophomore Alyssa Casey. Kimball drilled a triple with 2:01 until halftime to bring the Warriors' lead to eight, 40-32, and the Webster, N.H. native brought Merrimack's lead to double digits, 42-32, following her last bucket of the half
- Casey hit consecutive long balls to start the third for Merrimack, and Merrimack's defense forced the Chargers include six turnovers and five missed shots over the final five minutes of the frame
- Casey scored the Warriors' first nine points of the final quarter, finishing with a team-best 24 points. Freshman Caroline Wilson and sophomore Alyssa Torres added buckets late to bring Merrimack to its final margin of victory, 74-53
Notes and Numbers
- Casey posted one of the most efficient performances of her career, totaling game-high 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc
- Kimball's ended with a near double-double of 17 points and nine rebounds. She set a season high with nine boards, and scored 17 points in just 17 minutes of action
- Junior Denia Davis-Stewart tied her season best with six blocks and also set a new season high with eight rebounds
- Merrimack's three-point defense was fantastic, holding the Chargers to 12.5 percent from beyond the arc (2-16). Dominican did not hit a 3-pointer in the second half
- Friday marked the fourth straight game to start the season that Merrimack has scored at least 70 points, which marked the first time that has happened for the program since 2003-04
