ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Freshman Kate Mager delivered a team-high and career-best 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, junior Denia Davis-Stewart posted a double-double of 10 points and a career-high 17 rebounds and the Merrimack College women's basketball team prevailed, 77-68, on Saturday afternoon against Felician University in the final game of the Regina Rivera Tournament from the Hennessy Center on the campus of Dominican College.

  • The Warriors closed the first quarter on a 12-2 run over the final 5:24 to take control of the opening quarter. Nine of the twelve came from sophomore Mayson Kimball, while the Warriors' defense forced Felician to commit five turnovers while the Golden Falcons shot 1-of-7 from the field during Merrimack's run
  • A 7-2 burst for Merrimack to start the second quarter grew the Warriors' lead to 15, 27-12, which proved to be their largest of the half. Felician chipped away, however, cutting its deficit to four (29-25) with 1:48 remaining in the second quarter. Senior Lindsay Werner and junior Denia Davis-Stewart hit back-to-back buckets to end the quarter as Merrimack led, 33-25, through 20 minutes
  • The Warriors led throughout the third quarter, building their lead back up to double digits, 38-28, with 6:58 on the clock. Felician continued to hang around, decreasing its deficit to five, 45-40, late in the quarter. Senior Lexi Martin was able to bring Merrimack's lead back to seven at quarter's end, sinking a put back as time expired to make it a 50-43 game
  • Felician hung around again in the final quarter, with Merrimack's lead resting at seven with 4:35 remaining. Mager hit a triple to make it a 66-56 game, and the Warriors' advantage never dipped below 10 over the remainder of the game
