NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College baseball team will travel to New York this weekend to face Molloy College for a three-game series at Mitchell Field in Uniondale, N.Y. After adjusting the schedule yesterday due to weather, the Warriors and Lions will play a single game on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. followed by two seven-inning games on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m.
Last Time Out:
- The Warriors ended their trek to the Northeast Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C. with back-to-back wins over Dominican and Mercy, their second and third victories of the season
- Juniors Trevor Cooley and Daniel Amidon picked up the wins in each game. Cooley tossed 1.2 innings of scoreless relief against the Chargers to record the victory, the first of his career. Amidon started in the finale, throwing five innings with six strikeouts to also record his first ever victory
- Junior Cory Wasylow led the Warriors against the Chargers with two extra-base knocks in the game while adding a pair of RBI
- Redshirt-junior Garrett Hudson came out of the bullpen to notch the first save of his career as Merrimack's newly minted closer, working around a leadoff hit-by-pitch to strikeout the side
- Merrimack scored a season-high 15 runs against the Mavericks to end the trip, led by a career-high five-RBI performance for senior Mike Hoalcraft, which featured his first homer of the year
'Mack Facts:
- Senior Matt Nicholson emerged as the team's leading hitter through seven games, posting a .407 average. He is tied for the team lead with 11 hits and lead Merrimack with three home runs, nine RBI and a 1.208 OPS. He is tied for the NE10 lead in homers and RBI
- Sophomore Joey Porricelli paces the Navy and Gold with five extra-base hits, and joins Nicholson and Wasylow (.389) with averages over .300 this season (.344)
- Junior PJ Browne has made already this season, and leads Merrimack's starters in ERA (3.27), innings pitched (11.0) and strikeouts (11)
- Merrimack has six homers already, tied for the third most in the conference
Series:
- This marks the third straight season that Merrimack and Molloy have played a non-conference series on Long Island
- The first season, Molloy bested Merrimack by winning all three games. Last season, the squads split a doubleheader after only playing a pair due to inclement weather
- In the game the Warriors won, Merrimack outscored Molloy by seven as every member of the starting nine had a least one hit. Hoalcraft and sophomore Thomas Joyce led the way with two hits each

The Warriors will enjoy a nine-day break before returning to the diamond one week from Tuesday, when the Navy and Gold play their first home game of the year against Assumption at 3:30 p.m. from Trinity Stadium in Haverhill, Mass. Â Â
