SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Merrimack College softball team will be taking on American International College in a Northeast-10 Conference cross-divisional doubleheader on Saturday at Judy Groff Field. The first pitch for game one is scheduled for 12 p.m.
Last Time Out:
- The Warriors dropped their NE10 opener to Bentley at home on Tuesday afternoon, 4-2.
- Merrimack took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third, thanks to a bases loaded walk to senior Alyssa Williamson. Junior Caitlin McBride picked up her team-leading 13th RBI of the season on a sacrifice fly.
- Bentley, however, pushed across the tying runs in the fifth, before taking a 4-2 lead in the seventh.
'Mack Facts:
- The Warriors are receiving votes in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) poll.
- Senior Megan Cook leads the pitching staff with a 6-1 record, with five complete games and three shutouts. She has a 1.38 ERA, 56 strikeouts, and a pair of saves. She has only walked five hitters. Freshman Bridget Soraghan has made four appearances, with two saves and has 10 strikeouts.
- Williamson has a team-best .489 average, which is also good for top in the NE10. She has also hit safely in eight straight games. The team is hitting a .315 clip that is also good for best in the league.
- McBride leads the team with 13 RBI. She also has a pair of home runs, along with classmate Emily Kurkul.
American International
- Merrimack holds a 29-26 advantage and have won the last seven straight meetings since 2010. The last time these two teams met was in 2016 in North Andover, when the Warriors swept a doubleheader, 6-3 and 3-2. The last time Merrimack played at AIC was on April 17, 2011, picking a pair of shutout victories.
- The Yellow Jackets enter the weekend with a 0-10 record, most recently dropping a pair at LIU Post last weekend.
- AIC has a pair of players hitting above .300, with Alexa DiLeo hitting .333 on the season and Kayla Riley batting a .320 clip with six RBI.
- Ariana DiCioccio has made five starts in six games in the circle in 25 innings of work. She has eight strikeouts and has walked 16 batters.

The Warriors will play Bentley on Tuesday, March 27 for a doubleheader at Martone-Mejail Field in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. The games were originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 21st at Bentley, but field conditions shifted the series to be played at Merrimack College. The Warriors will be the visiting team for both games.Â
