LA MIRADA, Calif. – Junior Alex Fedorov won at fourth singles, 6-1 and 7-5, to get the Merrimack College men's tennis program its lone point of the afternoon as the Warriors suffered an 8-1 loss at Biola University from the Biola Tennis Center in La Mirada, Calif on Thursday afternoon.

Rapid Recap
  • Fedorov's victory gave the Navy and Gold their first singles point of the week from California. The Guilderland, N.Y. native won the first set easily, and opened a 5-2 lead in the second frame before holding on late to win in two
  • Sophomore Denis Davydov forced a third-set breaker at second singles after evening the match in the middle frame, 7-5. Biola's Derek James won the 10-point deciding set, however, 10-5
  • The Eagles swept the doubles portion of the match. The first flight showcased the closest match, where senior Mikhail Belov and junior Tyler Clontz suffered an 8-6 defeat
  • Davydov and Fedorov were within one game early, 3-2, at second doubles only to see Biola pull away for an 8-3 win. Senior Frank Vega and sophomore Paul Weidinger lost by four games at third doubles
  • Biola won at third and fifth singles in straight sets to clinch the match, claiming the first five points of the day
