NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College softball team will play five games over the weekend. The first two is a doubleheader against non-conference opponent LIU Post on Friday at noon from Martone-Mejail field. The Warriors will then travel to Saint Anselm on Saturday for two games starting at 12 p.m., before wrapping up that series on Monday, April 2. with a single game at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out:
  • The Warriors swept Bentley University on Tuesday afternoon, behind a strong offensive day and pitching performances. The Warriors won game one, 8-0, in five innings, before taking the second game, 7-3.
  • In game one, senior Megan Cook struck out four in her seventh complete game of the year. It was her fifth shutout, while she improved to 8-1. Freshman Abigail Amato hit her first homerun of her career.
  • In game two, senior Courtney Zambello had a strong start in the circle. She finished with five strikeouts to pick up her fourth win of the year. Junior Nicole Nanof hit a two-run blast in the second inning, on her way to a four RBI day. Cook came in for her team-leading third save of the season.
'Mack Facts:
  • The Warriors are now 15-4 overall, 3-2 in conference play, and 2-1 in the Northeast Division.
  • Senior Alyssa Williamson leads the team with a .500 batting average and 30 hits. She has also knocked in 13 runs. Sophomore Tiffany Mangimeli has 21 hits and 12 stolen bases, while reaching base in all 19 games.
  • Junior Caitlin McBride has a team-high 14 RBI. She and classmate Emily Kurkul each have a pair of homeruns.
  • Cook boasts a 1.09 ERA and five shutouts on the year. She has 68 strikeouts and has only walked nine batters. She holds opponents to a .207 clip. She also has three saves. Zambello is 4-2 in five starts and nine appearances. She has 28 strikeouts.
LIU Post
  • LIU Post leads the all-time series 24-21, based on available records.
  • The Pioneers have qualified for the Division II Championship 17 times in the last 19 years, and have appeared in four College World Series during that span, most recently in 2014.
  • LIU Post is coming off a sweep of Saint Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday afternoon, winning 8-1 and 4-1. The Pioneers have five hitters hitting above .300, including Julia Seader, who has a .452 clip and slugging percentage of .774. She has knocked in 16 runs.
  • Hannah Olshevski has made nine starts in the circle, with a 6-2 record. She has a 2.36 ERA and fanned 31 hitters.
Saint Anselm
  • Merrimack holds a 55-18 advantage in the all-time series based on available records (Missing 2004 season). The Warriors have gone 7-3 in the last 10 meetings dating back to the 2015.
  • The Hawks enter the series with 18-7-1 overall record and are 5-1-1 in NE10 play. They have won five straight games, most recently sweeping a three-game series against Franklin Pierce.
  • Saint Anselm has seven players hitting over .300, including Amanda Bickford, who has a .414 average. Megan Murrell leads the team with three home runs and 26 RBI.
  • In the circle, Morgan Perry leads the team with a 10-2 record and 77 strikeouts.
Up Next
Following the series against Saint Anselm, the Warriors will host Stonehill for a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 4. Game one is set to start at 3 p.m. at Martone-Mejail Field.
