NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College softball team will host Saint Michael's College for a three game divisional series this weekend at Martone-Mejail Field, beginning with a doubleheader Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. Sunday's single game will also begin at 12 p.m.
Last Time Out:
- The Warriors picked up two key Northeast Division wins on Wednesday against Stonehill. They took game one, 9-4, before scoring two runs in the seventh of game two, for a 2-0 final.
- Senior Megan Cook started both games in the circle, for the first time in her career, pitching 14 innings. In game one, the Warriors were down 4-1, before junior Nicole Nanof hit a go-ahead grand slam in the third inning, as part of a seven-run third. Cook fanned five in game one.
- In the second game, it was the bat of Cook that guided the Navy and Gold to victory. With two outs in the seventh, she delivered a double to score two runs to give Merrimack the 2-0 victory.
'Mack Facts:
- Merrimack enters with a 22-8 overall record and 9-5 in NE10 play. The Warriors are also 5-3 in divisional play and sit in third place in the Northeast Division.
- Merrimack is currently receiving 29 votes towards the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Coaches poll.
- Cook is now sixth on Merrimack's all-time strikeout list with 269, after passing Jill Gagnon '09 in the game one victory over Stonehill on Wednesday.
- Senior Alyssa Williamson has a team-best .443 batting average and has knocked in 17 runs. Nanof leads the team with 21 RBI and has three home runs, matching her single-season high from last season.
- Cook has also been impressive at the dish, with a .414 clip and a team-high eight doubles. Sophomore Tiffany Mangiameli has 14 stolen bases on the year.
Saint Michael's
- The Warriors have won eight straight games since the 2015 season against Saint Michael's.
- The Purple Knights enter the weekend riding a two-game winning streak, most recently sweeping Franklin Pierce on Tuesday. Their games against Southern New Hampshire on Thursday were postponed.
- Hayley Craddock leads the team in hitting with a .369 batting average, to go along with three stolen bases and three RBI. Danielle Markowski leads the team with two home runs and has knocked in 11 runs.
- In the circle, Danielle Brown has a 5-7 record and 12 complete games. She has 113 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.21. Her strikeout per seven innings leads NE10 play at 8.61.
