NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – In front of a large crowd for the first-ever track meet at Merrimack Stadium, the Merrimack College men's track & field team had plenty of highlights during its meet against Assumption College on Saturday night. The meet was also highlighted by a senior day ceremony prior to the events, plus alumni day for all former Warriors.

Highlights
- Senior Niall Coughlin won a nail biter in the 5000m race, coming from behind to outlast Greyhound freshman Jonathan Wahl by one tenth of a second in 15.34.79.
- Freshman Patrick Forrest continued his strong outdoor season, with a victory in the 200m dash in a time of 22.00 seconds. Forrest also took second place in the 400M (49.74), while scoring a team-high 8.75 points for the competition.
- Senior Keith Steinbrecher won the 1500m event, setting a new school and personal record of 3:57.65.
- Sophomore Ryan Nesta finished in first place in the 110m hurdles (15.09), just ahead of Joseph Santos of Assumption College. Nesta placed second in the pole vault.
- In the 3,000m steeplechase, senior Connor Murphy and freshman Gunnar Hasselquist placed first and second. Murphy had a time of 10:03.29, while Hasselquist finished in 10:07.85.
- In the field events, senior John Braga won the long jump event with a leap of 7.11m, and placed second in the discus with a personal best throw of 35.90.
- Freshman Travis Hunt continued his success in the hammer throw, picking up his first victory in the event. His throw had a distance of 40.68m. Hunt also was second in the shot put with a throw of 13.65m
- Sophomore Jake Fogarty won the javelin throw with a distance of 50.50m
- Junior Trevor Ciempa beat his NE10 Conference rival in high jump (1.90m) and scored in his first ever pole vault competition taking third place in the event.

The Warriors will head to Stonehill College next Saturday for the Skyhawk Invitational, in what will be the final tune up prior to the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Championships.
