NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College baseball program will begin its penultimate week of the regular season on the road Tuesday evening, when the Warriors will face Saint Anselm in a non-conference meeting. The contest will be played at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium – the home of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays – in Manchester, N.H. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Last Time Out:
  • Merrimack scored four runs in the eighth inning and added an insurance marker in the ninth to rally and defeat Saint Michael's, 8-5, on Sunday afternoon. The victory completed a three-game sweep over the Purple Knights
  • With runners in scoring position and two outs, sophomore Nick Shumski hit a two-run single that turned a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 lead. Classmate Joey Porricelli and graduate student Tyler Lyne followed suit with run-scoring base knocks that provided the Warriors a three-run cushion entering the ninth
  • Sophomore Stephen Fleury threw 3.1 innings of relief, entering the game in the fifth inning. Redshirt-junior Garrett Hudson entered in the eighth and recorded his third save of the season
  • Six different Warrior posted multi-hit efforts, including a three-hit day by senior Matt Nicholson. The Rockland, Mass. native saw his average increase to .377, which leads the lead and ranks third in the NE10
 'Mack Facts:
  • Wasylow won NE10 Player of the Week after hitting nearly .600 during Merrimack's 4-0 week. The Taunton, Mass. native entered the week with 13 career hits before an 11-hit outburst that resulted in a team-best 10 RBI, five more than any other Warrior over the four-game stretch
  • Senior starter PJ Browne etched his name into the Merrimack record book over the weekend, striking out his 231st career batter to become the program's all-time punch out leader. Browne notched his 16th career win as well, moving within one of tying the program mark
  • As a team, Merrimack's offense brought its team batting average above .300 on the season, hitting at a .302 clip. That mark is the highest among Northeast Division programs and ranks second league wide
  • The Warriors rank second in the NE10 in doubles plays (36) and are also fourth nationwide in double plays per game (1.09)
Scouting the Hawks:
  • Merrimack saw Saint Anselm recently, taking two of three games from the Hawks in their divisional series less than two weeks ago
  • Since facing the Navy and Gold, the Hawks have played three games. Saint Anselm dropped a weekend series against Southern New Hampshire
  • Junior JJ Dunn and senior Adam Krol are tied for the team lead in innings thrown (51.1). The former boasts a rotation-best 3.68 ERA
  • Junior Connor Parent paces the offense with a .327 average, 34 hits and 17 RBI
Recent Series:
  • The Warriors won the series opener in walk-off fashion, 5-4. The Navy and Gold faced a two-run deficit entering the ninth before a sacrifice fly and two bases-loaded walks enabled the Warriors to win
  • The Navy and Gold took the series behind a seven-inning performance from senior Anthony Lupi, 7-2. The Dover, N.H. native has thrown the most innings during conference play of any pitcher on staff, and has thrown three consecutive quality starts
Up Next:
Pending changes due to Wednesday's projected rainfall, the Warriors are scheduled to host Assumption College in a pivotal rubber game of the three-game divisional set between the two local rivals. First pitch at Saint John's Prep in Danvers is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
