NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The third-seeded Merrimack College softball team hosts fourth-seed Assumption College in the Northeast-10 Conference softball championship first round game on Tuesday at Martone-Mejail Field at 3 p.m. The Warriors won the season-series against the Greyhounds.

- Merrimack wrapped up the regular season with a three-game set against Franklin Pierce over the weekend. The Ravens took the first game Friday, before the Warriors split Saturday's twin bill.
- In Saturday's first game, Merrimack scored five runs in the first three innings to take a commanding lead. The big hit was by junior Emily Kurkul in the third inning, driving in a pair of runs with a double. Classmate Caitlin McBride knocked in two more in the sixth for a 7-0 lead. Senior Megan Cook picked up her 22nd win of the season and struck out seven batters in six innings of work.
- The Ravens took the final game of the series, 3-2.
'Mack Facts:
- Merrimack concluded the regular season with a 30-13 overall record and 17-10 in NE10 play.
- The Warriors earned the third seed in the conference tournament.
- Cook has been a force in the circle, posting 22 wins and 163 strikeouts, which set a new-single season record for strikeouts in a season. At the plate, Cook is second on the team in hitting with a .388 average, while leading the team with a .561 slugging percentage. She also has a team-high 10 doubles, while knocking in 22 runs.
- Senior Alyssa Williamson leads the team, batting .444 and a team-best 63 hits. She has 28 RBI on the year. Junior Nicole Nanof has a team-high 30 runs batted in, along with six home runs. She has 14 stolen bases on the year, while sophomore Tiffany Mangiameli has swiped 20 bags.
Assumption/Earlier this season
- Merrimack took the season-series against the Greyhounds this year. After splitting the first two games in Worcester, the Navy and Gold took the final game of the series at home in dominating fashion, by a score of 8-2.
- Kurkul and McBride knocked in a combined four runs in the final game to help Merrimack clinch the series.
- For the Greyhounds, they ended the regular season with a 19-15 overall record and 14-10 in league play. They ended the season dropping the final season-series of the season against Southern New Hampshire this past weekend.
- Stephanie Menard led the team in offense with 32 hits and a .344 batting average. She also had five home runs, along with 18 RBI. Alyssa Beaton also knocked in 18 runs for Assumption. Kayla Peabody knocked in 12 runs, and had five doubles.
- In the circle, Assumption was led by Kendal Roy. She went 11-9 and had 14 complete games. She posted a 3.05 ERA and struck out 87 batters this season. Mia Nowicki went 8-6 for the Greyhounds in 103.2 innings of work. She had a 5.13 strike out per seven innings ratio.

The rest of the NE10 Championship weekend will be played on the campus of Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y. If the Warriors advance, they will play second-seeded Pace University, of the Southwest Division, at 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 3 in the NE10 Championship Quarterfinals.
