Softball Hosts Adelphi, Pace this Weekend

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College softball team hosts a pair of doubleheaders this weekend at Martone-Mejail Field. The Warriors will play two against Adelphi University on Saturday, before playing a pair against Pace University on Sunday. First pitch for game one on both days is set for 12 p.m. Saturday's matchup is a rematch of the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Championship game.

Last Time Out:
  • The Navy and Gold had a series with Stonehill that was postponed on April 4 and 5.
  • The Warriors haven't played since Monday, April 2 against Saint Anselm. The last time the Warriors were home was a doubleheader against LIU Post on Friday, March 30.
 'Mack Facts:
  • The Warriors are now 17-7 overall, 4-4 in conference play, and 3-3 in the Northeast Division.
  • Senior Alyssa Williamson has a team-best .474 average and has knocked in 15 runs, good for second on the team. She also has five doubles. Classmate Megan Cook has a team-high seven doubles.
  • Junior Emily Kurkul has three home runs, while classmates Nicole Nanof and Caitlin McBride each have two. Nanof also leads the team with 16 RBI, while McBride has 14.
  • Cook leads the team in the circle with 10 wins and a 1.41 ERA. She also has three saves on the season.
Adelphi
  • The Panthers have a 16-15 edge in the all-time series, including a win in last years' NE10 Championship game.
  • Adelphi have won 10 in a row and enter the weekend with a 17-11-1 overall record and 9-0-1 in NE10 play, leading the Southwest Division.
  • Their most recent games were against Southern Connecticut State. The Panthers have six players hitting above .300, including two that have an average above .400. Nicole Camera leads the team with a .407 average and 26 RBI. Brenna Martini has a team-high five home runs and has knocked in 22 runs. Nicole Mengel leads the pitching staff with a perfect 5-0 record. Ally Muller has a 7-4 record and 49 strikeouts.
Pace
  • The Warriors hold a 26-10 advantage in the all-time series based on available records.
  • Pace enters the series with a 7-13 record and are 5-5 in conference play. The Setters play Assumption on Saturday. They most recently swept New Haven on Thursday.
  • Larissa Labs leads the team with a .439 average and is one of two players with nine RBI. Niyah Brown is batting .300 and has four long balls.
  • Emma Bernet has a 4-3 record in the circle and a 1.63 ERA in 12 appearances. She has six complete games and three shutouts, along with 30 strikeouts.

Following this weekend, the Warriors will hit the road on Tuesday, April 10 to play a pair of games with Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts.
