NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Having not played at home in just over two weeks, the women's soccer program looks to bounce back from Saturday's overtime loss, squaring off against American International College this Wednesday, September 26, at 7 p.m.
Last Time Out:
- Merrimack took a toll in the shot department through the first 45 minutes, when 11 opportunities from Saint Rose only found the frame five times.
- It took just 10 minutes before the Golden Knights struck the scoring column. Saint Rose attacker Nina Predanic dribbled hard up the left side and from 15 yards out and beat the keeper to make it 1-0.
- Only four shots were taken in the first half for the Warriors, with freshman Meghan Blanchette taking two.
- The second half was nearly the opposite in production, with Merrimack pressing offensively. The team's 10 shots more than doubled their first half total, putting five of which on goal.
- The Warriors nearly tied it up in the 79th minute on a ball that was crossed low near the 18-yard box. Senior Amber Gustafson settled the ball at the top of the box, and fired a laser that was pushed away by Saint Rose keeper Marika Laurendeau.
- Finally, in the 87th minute, the visitors tied the game. After a great switch to the weak side, senior Erika Scott took the ball 15 yards up field before firing a ball inside the box. Sophomore Izzy McDonnell read it perfectly, and slotted home her third goal of the season.
- Taking Saint Rose into overtime, the free soccer went just three minutes. A ball played into the box found Julianne Johnson, who redirected it home for the 2-1 overtime score.
