MANCHESTER, N.H. – Employing a singles lineup that featured five freshmen, the Merrimack College men's tennis program defeated Saint Anselm, 7-0, in the Warriors' first dual match of the 2018-19 season.

Rapid Recap
  • Merrimack's three doubles pairings combined to concede just one game. Juniors Denis Davydov and Alex Fedorov along with freshman Alec Mackay Rodriguez and Andre Singer notched shutouts at the second and third flights, respectively
  • Fedorov did not drop a singles game at the third flight (6-0, 6-0). The third-year Warrior was the lone upperclassmen to appear in the singles realm
  • Freshman Jonathan Garcia recovered from a first-set loss to win the final two frames, 6-3 and 10-8. The Dublin, Ireland native played the first singles in his first-ever collegiate dual match
  • Flights No. 2 and 4-6 all featured Merrimack players making their debuts, as well. Mackay Rodriguez won at second singles (6-2, 6-4) in his first singles match since reaching the Round of 16 at ITA Regionals
  • Freshmen Conrad Koch, Singer and Marshall Wood triumphed at fourth (6-1, 6-0), fifth (6-1, 6-2) and sixth singles (6-1, 6-0)
Up Next
The Warriors play in their lone home match of the fall this Sunday (10 a.m.) when Merrimack hosts regional foe Daemen from North Andover High School.
