#9 Field Hockey Welcomes #2 East Stroudsburg, Limestone to Merrimack Stadium for Weekend Tilts

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The ninth-ranked Merrimack College field hockey program plays consecutive home matches this weekend when the Warriors host second-ranked East Stroudsburg University and Limestone College on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Both contests will begin at 1 p.m. from Merrimack Stadium.   

Last Time Out:
  • A nine-goal onslaught delivered a shutout (9-0) victory for the Warriors in their season opener over Seton Hill last Saturday
  • A pair of Warriors received weekly recognition from the Northeast-10 Conference as sisters Katharina Ohmen and Juliane Ohmen were named Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The junior keeper made four saves for her first shutout of the year, while the rookie forward notched her first-ever goal in her first-ever start
  • Junior midfielder Jessica Palmer netted a hat trick, totaling a team-high six points on eight shots. Palmer entered the game with only one career goal before her offensive outburst to start her third season on campus
  • Classmate and starting back Miranda Judd also enjoyed a career performance with five points on one goal and a career-best three assists. She also added the team's lone defensive save on the day
 'Mack Facts:
  • Palmer and Judd both currently lead the nation in goals and assists per game, respectively. Sophomore forward Colleen Ellis also scored twice and is tied for second nationwide in goals per game
  • The Warriors' nine-goal scoring margin is also the largest so far in the country this season
  • Katharina Ohmen is one of two goalkeepers currently with a perfect save percentage
  • In the NE10, the Warriors boast the conference leaders in goals, assists, points, goals against and save percentage
Inside the Series:
  • Merrimack owns a 1-5 record against Stroudsburg in six previous meetings
  • The Warriors' lone victory came in 4-3 fashion during the second game of the 2012 season. ESU and Merrimack have met in each of the last three years, including the 2015 National Championship game that went in favor of Stroudsburg
  • Entering its 10th year as a program, Limestone ventures to North Andover for the first time on Sunday
