NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Following last Saturday's 12-goal victory in its first league game of the season, the No. 19 Merrimack College women's lacrosse program will look to start a win streak when it hosts No. 11 Pace in a pivotal Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Saturday at Duane Stadium. First whistle is set for 1 p.m.
Five Things To Know:
- Merrimack earned its first win of the year in dominant fashion last Saturday against Southern Connecticut State, winning by 12 as part of a season-high 18-goal output on offense. Merrimack set season-highs in just about every statistical category to get in the win column.
- Merrimack is averaging an even 10 goals per game through four contests while yielding 10.25 per game on the other end. They've scored 10-plus goals in two out of their four games thus far while limiting opponents to single digits in two games, as well.
- Senior captain Amber Feminella, a 2018 IWLCA all-region honoree, has picked up where she left off from last year's record-setting season on offense. Her 15 points and 12 goals lead the team, two points ahead of last year's NE10 Rookie of the Year, sophomore Haley Bartlett, who boasts eight goals and five helpers for 13 points. Feminella also leads the team with 12 draw controls, while three different Warriors have three caused turnovers.
- Senior Lauren Trepaney has been strong in four starts in net thus far; she ranks in the top-half in both goaltending categories in the NE10 – including third in save percentage (.512) – while her 10.75 saves per game are good for second in the conference and 17th in the country.
- The all-time series with Pace is young, as the Setters are just in their fifth year as a varsity program. Merrimack won the first two meetings but Pace has taken the last two, including a 16-10 decision at Pace Stadium last March. The Setters have gone 2-1 to start and average 13.33 goals/game and allow 7.67. Aleya Corretjer leads Pace with 10 points (6g, 4a) and 10 draw controls, while Sienna Masullo owns an 8.64 goals against and .477 save percentage in net.
