NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – After losing in walk-off fashion one game ago, the Merrimack College softball program swept Molloy in its home opener, winning game one in eight innings and shutting out the Lions in game two. A
Caitlin McBride RBI in the bottom of the eighth gave the Warriors a 4-3 victory in game one, while a great defensive showing accounted for the second shutout victory of the season in game two.
Merrimack was paced at the plate by senior
Caitlin McBride, who accounted for four of the team's six total runs on the afternoon. In the circle, both pitchers went the distance; sophomore
Bridget Soraghan improved to 4-1 on the season in an eigh-inning effort, while freshman
Bryana Michitson picked up her first career complete-game shutout with a 2-0 victory.

Rapid Recap (Game One)
- Molloy opened up the scoring in the top of the first inning. An error advanced a runner to third base, and Courtney Greene drove a ball to left field, scoring the game's first run via sacrifice fly.
- Merrimack opened its first offensive inning with three unanswered runs. After a leadoff single by senior Hannah Johnson, sophomore Kelly Dovi tripled. Caitlin McBride tripled behind her, making it 2-1. A Lucy Colarusso single made it 3-1, giving the Warriors a two-run advantage.
- Molloy came back to tie the game in the top of the fourth. Mikaela Tribby singled, and a double by Lauren Ramos cut the lead to one. A Tonianne Larson single tied the game two batters later, and the score lasted into extra innings.
- Merrimack earned its first walk-off victory this season after losing in such fashion its previous game. With Dovi on second, McBride crushed a ball to left-center, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Rapid Recap (Game Two)
- Merrimack got on the board early in the first inning. After Tiffany Mangiamelii reached on an error and advanced to third, McBride drove in her third run of the afternoon, singling to left field to give the Warriors a 1-0 advantage.
- The Warriors put the second and final run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second. After Lucy Colarusso singled, sophomore Abigail Amato drove her in with her first double of the season.
- Freshman Bryana Michitson threw her first complete game at the collegiate level in game two, going all seven innings for her second win of the season. The Haverhill, Massachusetts, native gave up just three hits while fanning three in the shutout win.
