NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.  – The Merrimack College softball program opened up divisional play Wednesday afternoon, using a walk-off single from freshman
Jenna Wike in game two to help split with Assumption.
After a 3-0 loss in game one, Wike earned her first career hit in the bottom of the ninth inning, scoring senior
Nicole Nanof from second base. The game's only run lifted the Warriors into the win column, and pulled the team back within a game of .500 with a 10-11 overall record.

Rapid Recap (Game One)
- Assumption got on the board in the top of the first. After a throwing error during Brooke Murphy's at-bat, a single put her on third, and she took home on a stolen base. A walk put two aboard, and a bases-clearing triple by Victoria Petrie made it 3-0.
- Despite four hits in the final three innings, the Warriors couldn't find the scoreboard. Sohpomore Bridget Soraghan went the distance for the third straight game, allowing all three runs in the top of the first.
Rapid Recap (Game Two)
- Game two was a pitcher's duel; neither side broke the box score through the opening six innings. In the top of the seventh, Assumption loaded the bases, but the Warriors were able get a groundout at first and double up the runner from third trying to advance home.
- Merrimack won in walk-off fashion for the second time this week, scoring the game's only run in the bottom of the ninth. With Nicole Nanof singling and advancing to second, freshman Jenna Wike drove a ball up the middle, scoring Nanof in exciting fashion.
