NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Coming off back-to-back wins, including a thorough upset win against the then-11
th-ranked team in the country at home on Saturday, the No. 16 Merrimack College women's lacrosse team will aim for three straight victories when it travels to Southern New Hampshire for a Tuesday night Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Penmen Stadium. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
Five Things To Know:
- Following a 12-goal win the previous Saturday, Merrimack earned a nearly wire-to-wire victory over its first ranked opponent of the year, as the Warriors took down No. 11 Pace on Saturday at home by a 10-6 score. The Warriors led, 6-3, at the midpoint before Pace made a final push, scoring three of the first five scores in the second half to get the game to 8-6 with 13 minutes remaining. But that was the closest they'd get, as senior Bridget Schofield scored the last two goals and finished with a game-high three tallies to help the Warriors earn the win.
- Merrimack is averaging an even 10 goals per game through four contests while yielding 9.40 per game on the other end. They've scored 10-plus goals in three out of their five games thus far while limiting opponents to single digits in three games, as well.
- Senior captain Amber Feminella, a 2018 IWLCA all-region honoree, has picked up where she left off from last year's record-setting season on offense. Her 17 points and 14 goals lead the team, two points ahead of last year's NE10 Rookie of the Year, sophomore Haley Bartlett, who boasts 10 goals and five helpers for 15 points. Feminella also leads the team with 12 draw controls, while sophomore Kelsey Daly – a 2018 NE10 All-Conference Third Team selection – has caused six turnovers, the most by any Warrior
- Senior Lauren Trepaney has been strong in five starts in net thus far; she ranks in the top-half in both goaltending categories in the NE10 – including third in save percentage (.520) – while her 10.20 saves per game are good for second in the conference and 18th in the country.
- Merrimack owns a 9-6 record against SNHU dating back to 2004 and picked up a 14-7 victory over the Penmen last season at home, snapping a three-game losing streak. The Penmen enter Tuesday at 2-3 overall after falling to No. 2 Adelphi in its last outing. Senior Kristin Wilder leads SNHU with 22 points (17g, 5a), while two players – Hayle Ashford and Leah Olansky – have nearly split time in net through five games.
