NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – After two weekends full of weather-related postponements, the Merrimack College softball team will get back on the diamond in Kissimmee, Florida, for The 2019 Spring Games tournament. The program will take on 12 teams from across the country, including two nationally-recognized programs.
The team is set to kick off Friday, March 8, playing Wilmington and Mercy at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Over the course of the following six days, the Warriors will play St. Thomas Aquinas, Shepherd, Jefferson, #24 Augustana, Charleston, Fairmont State, Minnesota-Duluth, Sioux Falls, RV Wayne State, and Millersville.
Five Things to Know:
- The Warriors stand at 4-1 through its first five games, playing every contest in the Snowbird Softball Freeze Out tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; its only loss came against Felician, 11-5.
- The team is currently averaging 4.2 runs per game, giving up less than three runs in each of its four victories.
- Senior Hannah Johnson has led the offense thus far, hitting .412 through 17 at-bats and knocking in six of the team's 21 total runs.
- With the program's 2.92 ERA, freshman Jenna Wike has seen the most time in the circle; she currently holds a 1.47 ERA, going 3-0 through 14.1 innings pitched.
- Last season, the Warriors went a perfect 6-0 at The Spring Games Tournament.
