CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's hockey team finished the season with a 6-1 setback to #4/4 Boston College Thursday night at Conte Forum.
A three-goal second period proved to be too much, as the Eagles skated past the Warriors in Merrimack's final game on the campaign.

How It Happened
- The Eagles came out with a flurry and scored just 1:20 in, before they doubled their lead to 2-0 midway through the frame.
- The second period didn't start off positively for the Warriors either. Boston College scored twice in the opening six minutes to take a four-goal lead.
- Merrimack found some life towards the end of the frame and it started with an unlikely source. While the Warriors were killing a five-minute major with under six minutes to play, Troy Kobryn rimmed a puck around the defensive end to Dominic Dockery. The junior fired the puck cross-ice, where Mac Welsher eventually picked it up. The freshman came in on the right wing and wristed home his seventh of the year on the far side.
- The home side did regain its four-goal lead in the dying moments of the second to make it 5-1 after 40 minutes.
- Boston College tacked on another in the final period to seal the decision.
Notes & Numbers
- Kobryn's assist marked the first point by a Merrimack goalie since Jan. 19, 2018 when Craig Pantano earned an assist against Boston College.
- Liam Dennison and Chase Gresock tied for the team lead in shots with four.
- Welsher's shorthanded goal marked the fourth this season for Merrimack.
Up Next
The Warriors finish the season with a 9-22-3 record, which is a two-win improvement from the 2018-19 campaign. Merrimack returns to the ice in early-October for the 2020-21 season.
