NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Sophomore forward
Jordan Minor of the Merrimack College men's basketball program was named Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week, presented by Pilot Pen. The announcement came on Monday by the conference office. Minor was also selected as the NEC's Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.
Minor posted a pair of double-doubles last week in wins against FDU, averaging 15.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 blocks per game. Minor started the week with 11 points and 10 boards in a 62-51 Merrimack win, and followed that up with arguably the best game of his career. The second-year forward tied his career best with 20 points and set a new career high with 13 rebounds in a 76-71 Warriors triumph over the Knights. The 13-rebound performance was only the fourth time a Merrimack player has corralled at least 13 caroms since 2016.
Additionally, Minor's five assists in the second game were a single-game career high, while he posted three blocks in each game as well. The Kingston, Mass. native led Merrimack last week in field goals made (12), field goal percentage (.632), total rebounds (23), offensive boards (7), assists (8) and blocks (6). Through six games, Minor ranks second in the NEC in rebounding (9.3/game) and third in blocks per game (1.7).The second-year Warrior has three double-doubles through six games, the first three of his career.
Across the conference, Minor ranks among the top three in rebounds and blocks per game with 9.3 and 1.7, respectively. He also is the Warriors' second leading scorer at 13.5 points per game, which puts him among the top 15 scorers in the NEC. Minor boasts two 20-point games and four double-figure scoring games overall in 2020-21.
