Highlights
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. –
Anne-Sophie Hogenboom had a flair for the dramatic Sunday afternoon at Duane Stadium, as she scored six minutes into overtime to lift the Merrimack College field hockey team to a 3-2 win over Saint Francis.
Hogenboom tallied her first collegiate goal after
Jane Bonazzoli inserted on a penalty corner to the center of the circle. The sophomore nearly had her shot blocked, but was still able to rip one home to the far side on the turf. It marked the third and fourth points of the day for her, as she assisted on a pair of goals from earlier in the game.
Riley Brown was sensational in the Warrior cage. She tied her single game career-high with 16 saves and made half of those in the fourth quarter and overtime session combined, as the Red Flash came on strong to try and win the game. It also marked the first victory of the season for the senior.

Rapid Recap
- Both teams played an even first quarter, as Saint Francis had three of four combined shots, but Brown stepped up with a pair of saves to keep the game deadlocked.
- The second quarter was on a similar trajectory with a trio of Red Flash shots, but Merrimack made the most of its best opportunity. On its only penalty corner of the frame, Hogenboom inserted to her Dutch countrywoman, Wester, who cranked it home from the top of the circle.
- Merrimack's lead stood into the halftime break, but Saint Francis came out with tons of momentum in the third quarter. The Red Flash had nine shots in the third, including six on cage, but Brown was just too good and kept it a 1-0 score after 45 minutes.
- The Warriors earned another penalty corner just a few minutes into the fourth and did not let it go to waste. Hogenboom inserted to Erica Spallone, who took the shot towards cage that deflected off Vanessa Kaddaras in front for the freshman's second of the afternoon. Spallone was originally credited with the goal, but was later changed to Kaddaras.
- Saint Francis did not go down quietly. The visitors from Pennsylvania scored two in the span of under a minute that concluded with 5:48 to play to send the game to overtime.
- Just under six minutes into the extra session, the Red Flash was called for a red card and Merrimack quickly took advantage. On yet another penalty corner, Bonazzoli linked with Hogenboom for the game-winner to send the Warrior bench into a frenzy for the first conference win of the campaign. \
