DURHAM, N.H. – Lauren Burke scored her second goal of the season on a penalty stroke in the fourth quarter Sunday afternoon at Memorial Field for the Merrimack College field hockey team, but it wasn't enough in a 6-1 loss to New Hampshire.

The Wildcats got a pair of second quarter goals, then pulled away from the Warriors in the third quarter with another couple. Burke's goal narrowed the margin to three, but Merrimack was unable to get any closer.

Rapid Recap
  • Brooke Bolduc had a great start to her day in the Warrior cage when she made a pair of saves in the game's first 15 minutes to keep the teams deadlocked.
  • UNH converted on a pair of penalty corners in the second quarter to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break, as it found the back of the net 1:59 in, then with just under three minutes to play in the half.
  • Merrimack looked to mount a comeback with a trio of shots in the third quarter, including one on net, but the Wildcats kept momentum alive with a pair to grab a four-goal lead.
  • The Warriors got on the board just over five minutes into the fourth thanks to a great effort from Abby Allen. She juked out a pair of defender along the goal line, then got knocked over by the Wildcat goalkeeper as she shot the ball to force the penalty stroke. Burke took it and buried her second of the year.
  • New Hampshire capped the scoring with a pair in the closing nine minutes to seal the win.
