NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College field hockey team played an even 60 minutes against Bryant Friday evening at Duane Stadium, but the Bulldogs converted on their chances to take a 3-0 win.   

The Warriors had chances in the first half to the tune of nine shots and a trio on net, but the Bulldogs held them off. Bryant was able to strike for a pair in the game's opening half hour, which turned out to be enough.

Rapid Recap
  • The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead when they tallied one a little after four minutes into the game.
  • Merrimack mounted an attack in the opening 15 minutes that included four shots, one on net and a penalty corner, but could not find the back of the net.
  • The Warriors pressed on in the second quarter with four more penalty corners, but could not find the finish. Bryant also tallied a backbreaker of a goal with just 1:00 left before the halftime break to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Defense took over in the second half, as the shot totals went down for both sides and Bryant was able to cap the scoring with just under five minutes to play in the fourth to seal the win.
