NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – One goal by
Ella Cormier was all it took for the Merrimack College women's soccer to beat Mount St. Mary's University on Sunday afternoon. Cormier found the back of the net in the 31
st minute and the Warriors defense held the lead for the rest of the game. Both
Molly Murnane and
Julia Ostermann had assists on the goal.

Set Breakdown:
- Vanessa Wainwright started things off for the Warriors in the first half with a shot in the 10th minute of play. Cormier followed Wainwright a couple minutes later with a shot that missed high. In the 28th minute Wainwright had the first Warrior shot on goal, which was saved by the Mountaineer goalkeeper. Three minutes later, Cormier scored on a blast from just outside the box. The goal was the freshman's fourth of the season. The Mount had their best opportunity of the first half in the 38th minute with a shot that was saved by Warrior goalkeeper Michele Silva. Merrimack took a one-goal advantage into halftime.
- Like in the first half, Wainwright started the Warrior offensive attack with a shot on goal in the 46th minute that was saved. The Mountaineers had a chance spoiled because of a save by newly entered Merrimack goalkeeper Claire DeFlora. The teams went back and forth. Abigail Cieri had a shot on goal in the 68th minute. The Warriors continued to show stout defensive play throughout the half, only allowing the Mount to have one shot on goal. Merrimack did not allow a shot in the final ten minutes, which earned them the 1-0 victory.
Notes and Notables:
- Molly Murnane lead the team in shots with five, including one on goal.
- Both Silva and DeFlora combined for four saves on the afternoon.
- With the win, the Warriors took the all-time series lead 2-1.

The Warriors get back to action next Sunday, when the squad heads down to Pennsylvania to take on Saint Francis. Game time is set for noon.
