Koch, Lindeman Shine in Singles to Lead Men’s Tennis in Dominant Performance at Home

NORTH ANDOVER/READING, Mass. – There was plenty of winning to go around for the Merrimack College men's tennis team over the weekend, as the Warriors compiled a 29-11 match record to dominate the field in their opening home tournament of the fall at the Brooks School and Austin Prep.

Conrad Koch and Henrik Lindeman had unbeaten weekends in both singles and doubles play to the tune of 6-0 records and Pedro de Godoy Mancini had the next most wins with a combined 5-2 mark.

Merrimack impressed up and down its lineup and had all nine competitors finish with winning records.

Rapid Recap
  • Koch's weekend started Saturday with a pair of singles win in the D flight. He charged back after he lost his opening set, 6-1, to Boston University's Ben Letzer to win the second set, 6-2, then claim the tiebreaker by a 10-7 margin. Then, he did it again with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-6 win over Cade Nadeau of Southern New Hampshire. He concluded his perfect run through the flight with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) win against Holy Cross' Will Kelleher Sunday.
  • Lindeman teamed with Koch in the doubles B flight and lost a combined eight games over three matches of dominance, which was capped by a 6-4 nod over Holy Cross' tandem of Jeremy Clark and Alex Ruenhorst. On the singles side, Lindeman topped Mikey Prokopis of Holy Cross by a 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 final, then beat Southern New Hampshire's Zach Duboulay in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, Saturday. His flawless singles play ended Sunday with another straight set win, this time over Matt Maggiacomo of Holy Cross.
  • For Mancini, he scattered three singles wins among the D and E flights. He won a marathon 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 decision over Matt Maggiacomo of Holy Cross Saturday and then he topped the Crusaders' Mikey Prokopis 6-3, 7-6 (4). His final singles win of the weekend came the next day with a victory over Diego Tran of Holy Cross after the Crusader retired after the first set. Mancini played in four doubles matches as well with Phil Grueninger and Hassan El Alami and combined to put together a personal 2-2 record.
  • Elsewhere for the Warriors, Jan Semerak continued his dominant fall in the A singles flight. Kevin Denecheau of Franklin Pierce handed the Warriors his first loss of the season in a match that went to a tiebreaker in the third set, but Semerak bounced back with straight sets decisions over Dino Loutas of Boston University and Felipe Carvalho of Franklin Pierce. In doubles play, Semerak teamed with Alec Mackay Rodriguez and won two out of three matches.
  • Mackay nearly put together a perfect run in the C singles flight with wins over Emmanuel Vacalares of Southern New Hampshire and Declan O'Flynn of Holy Cross, before he fell by a 6-4, 6-3 final Sunday to Franklin Pierce's Nkrumah Patrick.
  • Andre Singer also came just one win shy of a perfect singles run in the B flight. He had straight set wins over Ruenhorst and Boston University's Jose Robalino, then fell in a second set tiebreaker to Ivan Garcia of Franklin Pierce Sunday.
  • After he was knocked off in his opening singles match Saturday, Charles Robertson stormed back in the C flight with wins over Crusaders, Kelleher and O'Flynn, to finish the weekend on a high note.
