Jordan Minor and
Mykel Derring both had career nights in the Merrimack College men's basketball victory over the University of Hartford, 75-60. Minor had his first double-double of the season after scoring 25 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Derring was a marksman from outside, knocking down seven threes and also scoring 25 points in the win. The Warriors remain undefeated at home this season, after beating Emerson College, Lehigh, and now Hartford in the friendly confines of North Andover.

- Minor opened up the scoring for the Warriors with an easy two-point bucket in the first few minutes of the game. Four minutes later, Derring hit his first three of the game to give Merrimack a four-point advantage. Minor then scored on back-to-back offensive possessions for the Warriors to increase the lead to six. Hartford hit a three, but Merrimack point guard Malik Edmead answered with a three of his own to keep the advantage at six. Edmead scored again a few minutes later to bring the lead to seven. Derring who was mostly around the thee-point line laid one in with just under eight minutes to play to make the lead 10. A Minor layup with three minutes left gave the Warriors their biggest lead in the game so far at 15. The Hawks cut the lead to nine, before Derring knocked down two free throws to give the Warriors a 11-point lead heading into the locker room.
- Mikey Watkins scored with a scoop layup to make the lead 13 in the first minute of the second half. Hartford got the lead to five. Derring knocked down one of his seven threes to bring the advantage up to eight. The Warriors went on a 5-0 run capped off with an Edmead three to swell the lead to 12. Both teams battled back and forth. Derring hit another long ball to put Merrimack up 15 with just under nine minutes in the game. Jordan McKoy and Derring combined to go on a mini 5-0 run to put the Warriors up 15. The Hawks attempted to make a comeback, but fell short. The Warriors ended the game on a 7-0 highlighted by yet another Derring three and a thunderous Minor dunk to end the game with a bang for Merrimack.
Notes and Numbers
- Both Minor and Derring earned career-highs in points tonight after both scoring 25 each. Combined, both almost outscored Hartford, who only scored 60 points in the game.
- The Warriors won the rebounding battle for the first time this season, outrebounding the Hawks by 12.
- Merrimack, who has had trouble shooting the ball, exploded tonight, shooting 50% from the field and 45% from long range.
