Highlights
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's hockey team came just short of the equalizer Saturday night at Lawler Rink, as it fell by a 4-2 final to Boston University.
Patrick Holway and
Filip Forsmark both registered a pair of points to lead the charge offensively, but a pair of Terrier goals in the third period was too much in the end.

How It Happened
- Merrimack got off to another ideal start in the opening stanza to stake itself to the lead. Forsmark started the scoring play when he slipped a pass to Holway at the left point. The senior uncorked a one-timed blast towards goal that was tipped in by Liam Walsh for his second such goal in as many nights.
- The Terriers had a response about eight minutes later when they finished off a goalmouth scramble to knot the score before the first intermission.
- Boston University had a strong opening ten minutes of the second frame and snagged a 2-1 advantage just under six minutes in and took the lead into the third.
- The visitors extended their lead to a pair just under six minutes into the final frame when Logan Cockerill beat Warrior starting goalie Zachary Borgiel.
- Merrimack had a quick response a minute later to get back in the game. Zach Vinnell fed Forsmark in stride into the attacking zone, then the sophomore created space down the right wing and snuck a backhanded shot home for his fourth on the campaign. Holway picked up his second point of the night with an assist on the play.
- The Warriors had chances to equalize in the following minutes, but a bad break with just over five minutes to play led to a Robert Mastrosimone goal to all but seal the win for the visitors.
Notes & Numbers
- Walsh is now on a five-game point streak and leads the team in goals with seven.
- Borgiel made 25 saves on the day.
- Vinnell, Chase Gresock and Declan Carlile all finished with two blocked shots.
- Merrimack won 37 of 54 faceoffs on the night. Max Newton went 15-for-18 and Walsh was 10-for-14 to lead the pack.
- Holway and Vinnell both had +2 ratings to lead the Warriors.
- Merrimack was perfect on all three penalty kills. The team has now combined to kill of 17 straight opponents' power plays.
- The Warriors honored three seniors before the game with a quick ceremony. Holway, Patrick Kramer and Dominic Dockery were all recognized for their achievements with the program.
