NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. --  The Merrimack softball team came to compete in the team's first Division I home games against Boston University on Wednesday afternoon.

Rapid Recap (Game One)
  • Merrimack earned the game's first lead in the second inning as Courtney Lanpher skied her first home run of the season for a 1-0 lead.
  • BU took its lead in the third, churning a pair of runs off of bunts after a leadoff walk before a pair of stolen bases gave the visitors runners in scoring position.
  • The Terriers hit a leadoff home run in the top of the fifth before adding a pair of doubles to take a 6-1 lead, before adding the game's final run in the top of the seventh after a hit by pitch baserunner was brought in.
 
Rapid Recap (Game Two)
  • BU's second inning offense overwhelmed the Warriors, booming two home runs in its first three at-bats. Two more hits, a stolen base and a reach on an error supplanted the base runners for the Terriers, before capping the half inning off with another home run.
  • The Warriors were largely kept off the bases, with Gabby Comeau earning a walk in the fourth inning to get on base.
  • Both Madie Fornwalt and Katelyn Thompson earned two strikeouts for Merrimack on the day.
