ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's tennis team opened its spring season on Saturday afternoon, hosting Holy Cross at Spark Fitness and Tennis Club in Andover, Mass. The Warriors put on a pristine showing, winning every single match against the Crusaders in a 7-0 victory.
Merrimack won all three doubles matches before sweeping all six singles matches in straight sets. Junior

- Merrimack took all three doubles flights to pick up a 1-0 lead in the contest. The Warriors' third pairing of junior Hope Salts and graduate student Roberta Marcos needed only eight games to prevail at third doubles, 6-2. At the top spot, sophomore Allyson Nerf and junior Rosemary Campanella took down Holy Cross' top duo, 6-4. Calistro and Tuffanelli teamed up at second doubles, winning by a 7-5 margin to complete the sweep
- The Warriors enjoyed a dominant showing in singles. Tuffanelli's shutout came at the fifth flight. Marcos took the courts at sixth singles, and won her opener, 6-0, before a match-clinching 6-3 win in the second set. Nerf nearly matched Tuffanelli with her performance at second singles, losing just a single game in her two sets (6-1, 6-0)
- Calistro took down Holy Cross' top singles player. She won her opener, 6-3, before a 7-5 triumph in the second set. Camapnella appeared at the third flight, blanking her opposition in her first set (6-0) before wrapping things up with a 6-2 win in the second frame. Salts was Merrimack's No. 4 option, adding another two-set win as well (6-3, 6-2)
