LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Merrimack College field hockey team was topped by Rider, 7-0, Monday afternoon at Ben Cohen Field.
The Warriors were led by great play in the cage from the tandem of
Abbie Ortyl and
Brooke Bolduc. The former started the game and made a single game career-high five saves. She was replaced by Bolduc in the first half, who made her collegiate debut and had a quartet of stops. Â

- The hosts got off to a good start against the Warriors, as the Broncs tallied four in the opening 15 minutes to take the lead into the second quarter.
- Merrimack had a golden opportunity to get on the board just over two minutes into the second. Jane Bonazzoli inserted a corner and Colleen Ellis eventually had two straight shots on goal, but she was denied.
- Rider added another a few minutes after Ellis' chance to take a 5-0 lead into the break.
- Two of Bolduc's four saves came in the second half and Merrimack slowed down the Bronc attack to the tune of just nine shots. Rider did find the back of the net a couple times to claim the victory.

- Bonazzoli also had a shot for the Warriors.
- Bolduc ended her first collegiate appearance with 39:50 of time in the cage.
- Bridget Shanahan, Anne-Sophie Hogenboom and Juliane Ohmen all played the entire 60 minutes on the Warrior backend.
- Merrimack earned a trio of corners on the day.
