GRIFFINS RELEASE
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Merrimack College men's hockey senior defenseman
Patrick Holway has signed an amateur tryout contract (ATO) with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League, as announced by the team Tuesday.Â
Â
Holway just completed his collegiate career with the Warriors and had a senior campaign that included nine points on three goals and six assists in just 18 games. He ended his Merrimack career with 19 points on six goals and 13 assists and had a pair of game-winning goals this past winter. In just 35 games, he notched five multi-point games from the backend.Â
Â
The Cohasset, Mass. native also enjoyed a solid two seasons at Maine before he transferred. During his time as a Black Bear, Holway recorded 32 points on 10 goals and 22 assists over the course of 68 games.Â
Â
Holway was originally drafted by Detroit, Grand Rapids' NHL affiliate, in the sixth round of the 2015 NHL Draft. The Griffins are in the midst of a playoff chase, as they sit in second place in the central division, just five points back of the division-leading Chicago Wolves. Â
Â
The team is in action Friday night as it takes on the Iowa Wild in the first of a two-game set in Des Moines.Â
