SMITHFIELD, R.I. –
Juliane Ohmen netted a single game career-high two goals for the Merrimack College field hockey team, but Bryant pulled ahead in the second half and prevailed in a 4-3 decision Monday afternoon at Bryant Track & Turf Complex.
Ohmen had both of her goals in the first half and
Colleen Ellis put home her first tally of the season in the fourth quarter to help the Warriors nearly complete a two-goal comeback. The marker completed Ellis' two point game, as she assisted on Ohmen's first goal as well.
The goalie tandem of
Abbie Ortyl and
Brooke Bolduc kept the visitors in the game all day, as they combined to make nine saves in the cage.

Rapid Recap
- Merrimack quickly grabbed momentum in the first quarter. Just over five minutes in, the Bulldogs looked to clear their own zone, but Ellis knocked down the attempt. She then fed Ohmen in stride, who juked the goalie and tapped home her first of the year.
- Bryant equaled the Warriors' tally with just one second to play in the first quarter to knot the teams after 15 minutes.
- Ohmen didn't need long in the second quarter to stake Merrimack to another lead. Just over two minutes in, she took the ball off a restart, then maneuvered her way through two defenders, barged towards the cage and flipped a feed through the middle that hit a Bulldog player and went in.
- The Bulldogs responded again with just over five minutes left in the half to deadlock the teams heading into the break.
- The hosts kept momentum going in the third quarter with a goal just under seven minutes in to take their first lead of the day. They added an insurance marker 50 seconds into the fourth quarter, but Merrimack refused to back down.
- It took just a few minutes for the visitors to cut the deficit in half. From just outside the shooting circle, Jane Bonazzoli pushed a ball forward that bounced free for Riley Lambert. The junior made an excellent play to opt for the pass in-close and it resulted in a tap-in finish for Ellis on the doorstep.
- Merrimack pressed forward in the closing 10 minutes looking for the equalizer and had a huge boost from Bolduc, who made two saves in that span, including a stop on a penalty stroke.
- In the final couple minutes, Bolduc exited for an extra field player, but the Warriors still fell just shy of the tying goal.
Notes and Figures
- Ohmen had a team-high four shots and three shots on goal.
- The assist marked Lambert's first point as a Warrior.
