STORRS, Conn. – The Merrimack College women's tennis team played its second BIG EAST foe of the spring on Wednesday afternoon when the Warriors visited UConn at the UConn Tennis Courts for a non-conference match. The host Huskies emerged with a 7-0 victory, improving to 7-3 on the year while Merrimack dropped to 2-5.

- UConn won the third and first doubles flights to claim the overall doubles point, but the Warriors battled tough at No. 2. The combination of junior Kristina Calistro and sophomore Mikaela Johnson Campana took the second flight to a tiebreaker after splitting the first 12 games with their UConn counterparts. A back-and-forth tiebreak ensued, but the Huskies collected an 8-6 win in the breaker to claim a 7-6 win overall
- The hosts also triumphed in the singles portion of the match. Merrimack utilized a different singles lineup compared to previous matches. Sophomore Allyson Nerf played at first singles for the first time this season and for the second time in her career. Junior Rosemary Campanella vaulted up to second singles, where he played a close first set, 6-4, before falling in her second frame. UConn won the third flight by default
- Freshman Nikala Tuffanelli appeared at fourth singles, junior Hope Salts at No. 5 and graduate student Roberta Marcos competed at the sixth flight for Merrimack. It marked Tuffanelli's third match at No. 4 this spring, Salts' first at the fifth flight and Marcos' second at No. 6
