NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — The Merrimack women's soccer team was edged out late at Vermont on Sunday, after a strong afternoon with a pair of goals from Hallie Shiers.

The Summary
  • Vermont took a home field lead early, notching its first goal of the game in the second minute, tacking on a second goal 20 minutes later.
  • Merrimack got on the board in the 32' as Hallie Shiers handled a chip into the box, fighting off two defenders to pull away for her first goal of the season.
  • Shiers earned her brace in the opening minute of the second half, handling a pass across the box to her waiting boot at the top, snapping a rising shot in to tie it.
