Women's Soccer Battles to Draw with Maine

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — The late game action of freshman Ella Cormier pushed the Warriors to a draw in a heated double overtime match against the University of Maine Black Bears on Thursday.

The Summary
  • The two teams fought throughout the first half, with the first 45 ending scoreless. Teams were neck-and-neck, as the Warriors posted five shots, while the Black Bears notched four.
  • Maine took a 1-0 lead on a free kick goal in the 56th minute, as Tiana Bucknor's kick finished high and right.
  • Merrimack jumped for the equalizer in the 81st off of a corner kick. The service by Rebecca Harty was bodied down by Jessica Haskin into the box, where Ella Cormier finished with a sweeping kick in.

  • Cormier's goal and Haskin's assist were their first points of their collegiate careers.
  • Goalkeeper Claire DeFlora finished the contest with 11 shots faced and made eight saves in her third appearance for the Warriors.
