The Summary
  • The visitors struck first on a passing play 20 yards out from goal, with an attacker feigning a pass to set up the shot to give St. Bonaventure a 1-0 lead.
  • Merrimack was persistent with seven corner kicks in the first half to challenge the Bonnies in the box, but remained unable to break through.
  • In the final minute of the first half, the Bonnies sent in a corner kick with service toward the far post which was punched out by goalkeeper Claire DeFlora. St. Bonaventure pressured on the near post, with a shot that skirted over the line and was caught by DeFlora before the officials called it over the line.
  • The Warriors carried momentum from the first half into the early minutes of the second. Ella Cormier fought through a defender on the far side, bringing the ball into the box for a chip shot near the post. The Bonnies cleared the shot out to a waiting Hallie Shiers who sailed it through two for St. Bonaventure to get Merrimack on the board.
