How It Happened
  • The Warriors opened the game's scoring on the power play. Working from the perimeter, the Warriors passed the puck through the high slot, breaking up the penalty kill attack of the Black Bears. Teghan Inglis handled a pass from Madison Oelkers from the faceoff circle, firing a shot from the point. Fighting for positioning down low, Emily Oosterveld worked to get her stick in for a deflection for the lead.
  • Merrimack held a lead heading into the first intermission before the Black Bears scored early in the second period on a goal in limited space down low.
  • Later in the frame Merrimack returned serve on an end-to-end rush spurred by Ally Qualley. Scooping a puck played by Emma Gorski, Qualley brought it down the nearside wing. She cut through, seizing the open space past the defender to walk in and pop a shot under the crossbar for her third goal of the season.
  • In the third period, the Black Bears gained momentum on home ice. Their comeback began with a tally 90 seconds into the period to tie the game before taking a lead a minute and a half later.
