NOTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College football team beats Long Island University in the final minutes of the game on Saturday afternoon in front of a record crowd of over 12,000.
Victor Dawson four yards up the middle to tie the game and kicker
Lliam Davis knocked down the extra point to give the Warriors a one-point lead and victory. Dawson finished the game with is first 100+ yard game of the season.
Rodney Samson had 11 tackles to lead Merrimack.

How It Happened
- Captain Anthony Witherstone had an interception on the first possession of the afternoon for the Sharks. The Warriors punted on their first time with the ball. After a long drive Long Island knocked down a field goal to go up by three. The Warriors were then forced to punt. On the punt, the Sharks miss played the kicked, Witherstone took advantage and recovered, giving Merrimack excellent field position. Davis knocked down a field goal to tie the game at three. Long Island scored a touchdown on a pass to go up seven. The Warriors responded two drives later with a two play touchdown drive of their own. Gavin McCusker found Carter for a 64-yard touchdown, tying the game at 10. Long Island came back scored a touchdown to go back up by seven. The Sharks knocked down another field goal before the end of the half to go up 10 heading into the locker room.
- After a punt on the opening second half drive by the Warriors, Long Island kicked another field to go up by 13. Those three points were the only ones of the third quarter for either team. On the first play of the fourth quarter, McCusker found Hayden Fisher on an 18-yard pass up the middle that put Merrimack down six. In the final five minutes of the game Dawson found the end zone for the first time of the game tying the game. Davis knocked down the extra point to give the Warriors a one-point advantage. The Sharks fumbled on their next offensive possession, giving the Warriors the win.
