NORTH ANDOVER, MASS - The Merrimack College Warriors women's hockey team notched their first win of the 2022-23 campaign with a stellar 2-0 victory, earning the split in their two game set against the Syracuse orange on homecoming 2022.

- Calli Hogarth was fantastic in her first ever collegiate start, stopping 40 shots en route to the victory. With Syracuse eager to shoot the puck she stayed calm and collected, including stopping 16 shots each in the second and third periods.Â
- Merrimack in their own zone did a great job limiting high volume chances, and as a team blocked 18 shots. Natalie Nemes got in the way of the most on the team, recording five blocks on the afternoon.
- Merrimack's penalty killers also achieved a perfect 10: as they went 10/10 with Syracuse on the advantage, 4/4 on Friday and 6/6 on Saturday.Â
- The Merrimack players who helped achieve this feat include: Sam Lessick, Allison Reeb, Madison Oelkers, Emily Oosterveld, Ally Qualley, and Sophie McKinley.
- With shots at a premium, Merrimack took their opportunities and the Warriors scored their first of the afternoon with eight seconds to go in second period. Katie Kaufman scored off a rebound to take the lead and the momentum into the locker room.
- Late in the third Syracuse pulled their goalie to try to tie the game up, but it was not to be as Celine Tedenby took the pass from Raice Szott and put it off the post in to the open cage to seal the victory at 18:35 of the final period.

- Hogarth starts her college career in style, with a 40 save shutout to earn her first win
- Tara Blackburn picks up a secondary assist on the opening goal, giving her three points on the opening weekend.
- Olekers led the team in shots with four.
- Kaufman had one goal and one assist tonight.
- Tedenby also scored her first goal in a Merrimack uniform.
