Men's Tennis Falls to Franklin Pierce

RINDGE, N.H. – The Merrimack College men's tennis team took on Franklin Pierce University in their second game of the fall season. In a match that came down to the wire, the Warriors just didn't have enough in the tank as they fell 4-3.

Rapid Recap
  • This contest started with in the doubles bracket where the Warriors dominated from the opening. In doubles #1, junior captain Aryaan Bhatia and sophomore Henrik Lindeman, won their matchup in convincing fashion by a final tally 6-1. In doubles #2, sophomore, Charles Robertson, and senior captain, Pedro De Godoy Mancini, followed up their teammates in the second game but sadly couldn't capture the victory as the Ravens took the second match to tie the game up at 1-1 leading into singles play.
  • In singles play, Lindeman played in the first match for the Warriors as they looked to bounce back after the result in doubles. Unfortunately, though, Lindeman dropped this one by scores of 1-6 and 2-6. In singles #2, graduate student Andre Singer took on a tough matchup against Nkrumah Patrick as the game ended in the Ravens taking the point and the lead at 3-1. In singles #3, Robertson, started and ending his matchup in an impressive performance, avenging his doubles game winning 6-1 in set 1 and 6-2 in the second set, making the match close at 3-2. In singles #4 looking to tie up game and earn points for Merrimack, the senior captain Pedro Mancini put on a back and forth contest against Joshua Arnold in a competitive three set match. Arnold took the first set 5-7 but Mancini would soon answer as he was victorious in the second set at 7-5. The third set however, is where the Sao Paulo, Brazil native dropped the match by score of 6-10, making the teams' totals at 4-2. In singles #5, the Warriors captured the final point of the contest, as sophomore, Valentin Riveros took home both set victories with the first set being 6-3 and the second at 6-4. In the end though, Franklin Pierce came out on top winning 4-3.

Merrimack will return to action on November 6th when they compete in the Bryant University Invitational.
