Men's Basketball Downed By Montana

MISSOULA, MT. – The Merrimack College men's basketball team suffered its second loss of the week to the host team, the University of Montana 62-51. Ziggy Reid led the way for the Warriors with 15 points. Jordan Derkack was one rebound away from a double-double after scoring 13 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Jordan McKoy chipped in with eight points, including two threes.

Rapid Recap
  • McKoy and Derkack combined for five points in the first four minutes to give Merrimack and early two-point lead. After a Montana bucket, McKoy scored again, giving the Warriors back the lead. Bryan Etumnu knocked down his first three in a Merrimack uniform to give the Warriors a three-point lead with 12 minutes to go. Heading into the under eight media timeout the game was tied at 12. Both teams battled back and forth, not letting the other get more ten a one-point lead. McKoy hit his second three of the night, giving Merrimack a four-point lead. After a comeback from Montana the score ended up being tied at 25 heading intot halftime.
  • After a cold start to the half, Derkack and Reid hit jumpers on back-to-back possessions, giving the Warriors a four point lead. After back-to-back three pointers Montana found themselves up by two points heading into the under 12 media timeout. After the timeout Montana added seven unanswered points going up by nine. Jaylen Stinson ended the run with s jumper. With three minutes to go Montana was up by 12. Derkack had a dumper to get the lead to 10. After made free throws from both sides, Montana ended up winning the game by 11.

  • Merrimack scored 15 points off turnovers, compared to Montana who had 11.
  • The Warriors got 13 points from their bench.
  • Merrimack shot 74% from the free throw line.
