LOWELL, MASS. – The Merrimack College men's basketball team dropped its second game in two years to the University of Massachusetts Lowell on Wednesday night.
Ziggy Reid was the lone Warriors in double figures, scoring 22 points after knocking down eight shots from the field, including six threes.
Javon Bennett scored nine points off the bench.
Jordan Derkack added seven points in the loss.

- Reid opened up the game with a three. Jordan McKoy hit two three throws to put Merrimack up early in the first half. The River Hawks then added 13 straight points to go up by 10. Derkack ended the run with a jumper. Bennett and Reid hit back-to-back threes on two Warrior offensive possessions to cut the lead to six. With five minutes to play in the first half Umass Lowell was up 15 after scoring eight in a row. Reid scored on a layup to stop the run. Two threes at the end of the half put the River Hawks up by 20.
- The second half started with a three by Mykel Derring. At the first media timeout Merrimack found themselves down by 25. Devon Savage hit a three to put the Warriors down by 22. Reid followed up with a three of his own slicing the lead to 19. Both teams went back and forth keeping the score around the 20-point mark for a number of minutes. In the final five minutes of the half Reid hit four threes, but it was not enough to fend off Umass Lowell.
