NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College men's basketball team had a shot at the buzzer to tie the game in regulation but could not convert on Sunday afternoon against the University of Maine.
Jordan Minor earned his fourth double-double of the season after scoring 19 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.
Ziggy Reid was the other Warrior in double figures with 13 points, he also had six rebounds. Both
Mykel Derring and
Jordan Derkack had six points for Merrimack in the loss.

- Four minutes into the game the score was tied at six. Reid then converted on a layup to put the Warriors up by two. With the score tied at 10, Derring hit back-to-back threes to put Merrimack up by six. Devon Savage hit a three with eight minutes to go in the first half to give the Warriors their biggest lead of the game at nine. The Black Bears clawed back to cut the lead down to four. Reid then hit a three to push the advantage back up to seven. After a run by Maine to end the half, the Warriors were up three heading into the locker room.
- Merrimack scored the first four points of the second half to take the lead by seven. The Black Bears added four points to cut the lead to three. With 10 minutes to play Maine took its first lead of the game 32-31. They then added four unanswered points to go up five. Minor scored with a strong post move to stop the run. Both teams then traded buckets back and forth. With a under two minutes to play, Reid hit a jumper to put Merrimack down by three. Maine knocked down two free throws to go up by five. Reid then hit another jumper in the paint putting the Warriors down three with 32 seconds left. Javon Bennett stole the ball with 31 with seconds left, causing Merrimack to call a timeout. Bennett then had a last second shot that could not find the bottom of the net.

The Warriors get back to action in a week when the squad heads to Pennsylvania to take on Bucknell. Tip off is set for 2 p.m.
