NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College men's basketball team was downed in its first matchup ever with the University of Vermont on Sunday afternoon, 66-43.
Jordan Minor was the leading scorer for the Warriors with 25 points. The senior big man also pulled down 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.
Jordan Derkack added seven points off the bench.
Jordan McKoy scored five in the loss.

- Both teams traded buckets for the first five minutes of the game. Jaylen Stinson then knocked down a three to give Merrimack a one-point lead. The Catamounts then answered back with 15 unanswered points of their own to go up by 14. Javon Bennett hit a three to stop the run. Vermont then added eight more points to go up 19 with just under five minutes left in the first half. Minor scored with 17 second half before halftime to put Merrimack down by 22 heading into the locker room.
- McKoy hit a three in the first couple minutes of the second half to get the lead down to 20 after a Vermont score. With 16 minutes to play, Minor drove hard on the paint and made a layup, slicing the lead to 19. Both teams went back and forth for a number of minutes. Derkack hit a three with 11 minutes to play getting the deficit back to 19. The Warriors were unable to get the advantage down, losing the game by 23.

- Merrimack scored 24 points in the paint.
- Ziggy Reid was second on the team in rebounds with seven.
- Minor finished the game with four blocks.
