DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Merrimack College women's golf team, led by
Prakruthi Sastry's third-place overall finish, improved each day at the 2022 NEC Championship at LPGA International to finish in a tie for third in team scoring.
The Warriors opened the tournament with a team score of 324, but followed it up with totals of 311 and 309 to climb up the standings and share third with Wagner at 944. Sastry, who was the 18-hole tournament leader after an opening round of even-par 72 Wednesday, responded from a round of 81 Thursday to close the tournament with a 75 during the final day. She closed the tournament with nine birdies overall and was one shot better than the fourth-place finisher to earn her first All-Tournament award in just her first collegiate season.

Jacquelyn Stiles was one of the top players in the field during the final two days of play. After an opening round 83, she backed it up with totals of 78 and 73 to rocket up seven spots on the leaderboard on the final day to finish in a tie for ninth. She had two birdies in the final round and played to -2 from holes 4-14 to push her up the leaderboard and also claim All-Tournament honors. She also had a trio of birdies during Thursday's round.

How It Happened
- Yiting Pan had one of the top rounds of the day Thursday when the freshman fired a 74, which included five birdies. She sandwiched that total with rounds of 86 and 81 to finish in a tie for 18th to conclude her excellent opening season with the Warriors.
- Jordan Laplume got better each round to conclude her collegiate career. After an opening round 85, she turned in cards of 84 and 80 to end the tournament in 30th. She also notched a pair of birdies in her final four holes, including one on the par-5 five 18th hole.
- A strong round was also turned in Thursday from Alexandra Tomasso, who carded a 78 with four birdies scattered on the day. She also had totals of 84 and 89 on the tournament to end in 31st overall.
